4 House Siding & Cladding Ideas to Spruce Up Your Exterior For Spring

Spring is on the way—and that means homeowners are gearing up for projects that can transform their home’s exterior. Few things lend more curb appeal than siding and cladding enhancements. It’s the perfect way to reset your home’s exterior look—especially when you’re using exceptional products like Evolve Stone from Barron Designs.

Whether going with siding, panels, or veneer, our faux stone products give you a hyper-realistic look and plenty of durability. Plus, they’re affordable, lightweight, and easy to install. Read below for a few house siding and cladding ideas to help propel your springtime exterior upgrade projects.

To offer project execution and design versatility, we’ve included three distinct product styles—faux panels, exterior siding panels, and Evolve Stone stone veneer—that are all capable of enhancing your home’s exterior and standing up to the elements.

1. Update Your Home’s Skirting

Skirting has a practical side, protecting crawl spaces and the areas beneath mobile homes from the elements. However, it also has a decorative side, too. In fact, decorative skirting is one of the top house siding trends out there because it’s a simple improvement that can accomplish a lot. Use skirting to complement or contrast with your home’s exterior color palette to create a lot of visual interest.

That’s what’s happening in our example. On this home, Evolve Stone National True Fieldstone Veneer in Kodiak Mine complements the brown tones within the rest of the home’s architectural details. At the same time, the dark shade of this skirting is dark enough to create an eye-catching contrast—all while amping up visual appeal through the realistic stone texture.

2. Give Your Siding a Faux Stone Facelift

Residing your whole home may feel like a daunting project, but when you factor in the lightweight, easy-to-install nature of Barron’s exterior siding panels, this exterior upgrade is much more manageable than it seems.

New siding will spruce up your home in time for spring and add a lot of value to the home, particularly when you opt for premium siding panels

According to the National Association of Realtors, new siding is one of the most valuable home improvement costs, recouping as much as 86% for fiber cement siding and 82% for vinyl siding. While their survey doesn’t cover modern house siding ideas like faux stone siding, you can rest assured that its distinct beauty will likely add even more value than commonplace siding options like vinyl and fiber cement.

From dry stack to cobblestone to brick to shake, Novik exterior siding offers an array of incredibly realistic-looking, durable, and easy to install styles that can serve as a transcendent spring awakening for your home’s exterior.

3. Give Your Entryway a Makeover

Your home’s front door is a major exterior focal point—and that’s why enhancements to the front porch or area around the entryway make a major impact. For a springtime siding enhancement that will add loads of curb appeal, try redesigning your home’s entryway with either our faux stone siding or faux stone panels.

That’s what the homeowners did in our example. This appealing home incorporated our Novik Cobblestone faux stone siding in Ash, which provides a charming contrast color-wise while working beautifully to marry natural elements like wood, stone, and landscaping.

4. Bonus Idea: Add Premium Appeal to Your Porch Pillars

Though not traditionally classified as siding, this is a creative bonus inclusion that offers a similar end-result enhancement. And the great news is you won’t need much in the way of materials to give your porch pillars a premium look. It’s also a quick and easy project that provides an immediate boost to your home’s curb appeal. In our example, the homeowners used Colorado Dry Stack faux stone column wraps in Sierra Brown to wrap around the bottoms of the porch pillars.

What makes this look especially appealing is that it adds a much-needed texture and contrasting color to this home’s front porch. The look of real stone also works beautifully with the landscaping to create a more natural, comfortable vibe.

Working With Our Easy to Install Siding

Our exterior siding products come with major benefits. Not only are they incredibly realistic and more affordable than the real alternatives, but they’re also lightweight and easy to install. Unless you’re planning to fully re-side a larger home, you can do most of these projects in just a weekend or two. Barron’s faux stone products don’t require a workshop full of expensive tools or years of experience in construction for a seamless installation.

Below, we’ll take a quick look at what is needed to install both Evolve Stone products and our faux stone siding or wall panels.

Installing Evolve Stone

Evolve Stone is uniquely easy to install. After removing the old siding, you’ll install an  Evolve Stone Rainscreen, which is necessary to allow proper water draining, ensuring water doesn’t get trapped between the stone and the sheathing. This product can simply be nailed into place using cap nails.

After that, you can proceed with installing the stone itself. Install Evolve Stone products one stone at a time using a finish nailer loaded with stainless steel finishing nails. If you’re installing Evolve Stone over concrete, then use an exterior-grade construction adhesive to glue each stone into place.

Installing Faux Stone Panels

Our detailed faux panels exterior installation instructions outline how to successfully install faux panels in exterior settings, including tools and materials needed and steps to follow.

Installing Faux Stone Siding

Our Novik faux stone siding installs much like conventional siding. You’ll need some accessories like starter strips, which hold the panels in place at the base of the wall. Each panel can then be fastened along the top of the panel according to our detailed exterior siding installation resources, which offer direct guidance for specific Novik siding styles.
